Newly Spring

Daisy Dukes,

Dug out

Dusted off

From the “spring/summer clothes” bin,

Make their way up

Freshly shaved legs.

Feet enthusiastic,

As they come out of

Revealing bright polished nails.

A Fall jacket is thrown,

Quickly forgotten,

Over a desk chair.

It weeps,

Knowing that the closet

Will be its prison once more.

It’s Monday,

Yet smiles are plastered

Onto everyone’s faces.

And the groundhog sighs,

That people have forgotten

His lies of an early Spring.

The flowers stand

A bit taller,

The birds sing

A bit louder,

And the air,

Smells a bit sweeter.
